God Bless the USA

Just like that " ... Very Hungry Caterpillar" from the boys' bookshelf, we munched and slurped through mounds of sticky cotton candy, LARGE drinks, EXTRA LARGE frozen drinks, sno cones, Dippin' Dots ... and big beer ... at a baseball game on Independence Day 07.

But, when the color guard took the field and men in uniform and street clothes and tight baseball pants covered their hearts w/ their ball caps, NOTHING was getting by the lump in my throat.

Many of you on this big ol' Web have written so very eloquently about love for fathers, grandfathers and country. You've written about honor and sacrifice, and remembering always those who've sacrificed so that we might attend a ballgame on a perfect nite with family and friends.

I'm so very grateful for our many gifts, for my country, for my flag, for my family, for baseball, hot dogs and apple pie ... that it hurts. Truly it does.

May each of our days be full of the same independence, remembrance, patience, pride, grace and love as today. For all of us ...
