Surprised that after lo these many years, I am incapable of viewing ANYTHING w/ meaning thru a telescope. Microscopes, too. And don't get me started w/ stethoscopes. Just the rustling against fabric is all I hear.
I joined the Astronomy Club in high school only because groups of my friends gathered in the cold of darkness to "view stars." There might've been "hand-holding."
I am NOT CAPABLE of picking out constellations. Planets. Anything. I can only differentiate between the Dippers if they are side by side and one is clearly "Big."
Tonight The Short One invited me to a "star party" at his school. At one station we were purportedly gazing at Jupiter. May as well have been a passing 747. Probably was. Or a streetlight.
It might all come down to me being unable to wink. But largely I think it's my inability to comprehend such vast space. No way my eye should be privy to all that.
And no worry.
It's not.
