Come July 8 of this year, when The Short One turns "five and big, Mommy," my children will have outgrown the library of books I purchased in hopes of learning to raise them and to which I've turned for advice on middle of the night ailments and oozing.
"Your Baby ... Birth to Age Five," will be obsolete. My "newborn" and "toddler" books have already found their way to the highest shelf. "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" is just FLAT collecting dust ... and might be moldy.
We still refer occasionally to "Training your Beagle." It's been far more simple and predictable. But, even it seems to be heading to a higher shelf.
