Tonight, however, was spent doing MY part in tha home improvement, which USUALLY consists of me standing all wine-clad and pointing ... "You missed a spot." But, tonight found me scraping 12-yr-old wallpaper and paste from unprimed wallboard in the kitchen. This is the LAST of the wallpaper in our house and it's GOING. But, it is TOUGH to get gone, and all those home-brewed remedies like, "Just spray a combo of water and dish soap on yer walls and that stuff'll lift right off," DO NOT work. It's highly potent chemicals or nothing; which, when left to sear into raw sheetrock, smell a little bit like "youth fair barn" and a whole lot like Day Eight better find me with sinuses intact.
This will certainly help me sleep soundly.

And let me clarify for those of you so sweetly keeping up with my "Mama and Them's" whereabouts post-Ike. My mama's library card that I mentioned in my last post is NOT for the library in Galveston, which is water-soaked ... at least on its lowest levels. My parents are settled temporarily in their FORMER hometown on the Gulf Coast. And there is the best business blog on the Galveston Daily News site that is full of hope for us regarding what's open, what's not, what's returning, what's not, AND TODAY!, the news that one of our very best places for a MEATLOAF FIX is indeed cookin' on the Island. It's called Simp's and I guarantee they don't have a Web site, but they've got comfort food and, right now, that is superb.
